What I hope to achieve
I know I haven't Blogged all this year so far, yes I have been busy but that is no excuse and i am going to try to write more often and make the time.
Am studying Certificate IV in Youth Work at the moment which I am enjoying. It is interesting to be around some other people who are more worried about helping others than the money they could earn in other jobs. One of our lecturers has made comment to the fact that you don't do it for the money, cause it ain't that great. But then again we do live in a country where even the poor can be compared to others as rich.
One of the interesting things I get to do is an assignment on Mahatma Gandhi and what he did for community development. I had bought a movie about his life at the beginning of the year as I have had a good respect for what he did mainly from knowing that Martin Luther King Jr had based a lot of his work on what Gandhi had done.
We also tend to have some interesting discussions on what can be controversial issues, and it is interesting to see the way some people reason their morals and where there values come from, as well as making me consider deeper into my own values and where they are from.
Work has changed a fair bit since I got back from my sister's wedding. My old bosses were selling the store that I was based in, which I knew about and had talked with the new owner about still working there and everything was going to work out there but when I had gotten back he no longer had the hours i needed with TAFE during the week and all. However the State Manager for Telechoice called me and asked if I would work for him at another store nearby that he is having to take back off a franchisee who is unable to continue running the store. But at this stage it has been over two weeks and I haven't heard that has happened yet and am not happy working all over the city until it changes hands. So I am probably going to start looking for more consistent work.
If you pray could you pray for me that i would make my studies at TAFE a high priority and not let myself down by giving up, being lazy and losing focus on what I hope to achieve.

If you're interested in Gandhi, you should check out some of Walter Wink's writing.
