sight seeing Adelaide

the next week was spent sight seeing around Adelaide, with my lil sis Kimmy and her boy Benny who arrived from Sydney by plane the day after me. we went out that night to a pub in North Adelaide called The Archer, to catch up with one of Ben's mates who lives here, nice pub and the have Stella on tap, i was impressed. as Ben and i stood at the bar there was a bit of a question we had for each other, what do they call a standard size beer here? pot? schooner? we didn't find out till later and we both ended up with pints, not quite what we were after originally but oh well, saved us getting another one later.
the next day, Friday, we got up early and drove up to the lovely Barossa Valley, for a tour, some site tour, mostly wine tour. was quite an experience and i now know a lot more about wine and drinking it, but not too much of course. we had lots of fun and had a great time together.
Sunday afternoon we went to the A-League football top of the table clash, Adelaide vs Sydney, Ben, Kim and myself were amongst a handful of Sydney FC supporters there and although i called the score 3-2 Sydney win before the game i got the win bit wrong as some scrappy defending gave Adelaide two easy goals plus another, with Adelaide taking the win. was still a great experience with the stadium packed out, and one great football match.
on Monday we went to the Australia vs West Indies test match at the Adelaide Oval, it really is a beautiful ground, and was good to see some cricket.
the rest of the week was mainly spent shopping or going to the beach, and hanging out having fun together.
Kimmy and Ben left for Sydney on the Wednesday and so did some of the Australian Cricket team who we saw at the airport.

Start Here

i don't know quite how to start, it was 4 weeks ago i flew the coop and moved to Adelaide. And i have certainly had some adventures since then.
the drive was long and slow, my newly acquired 4cyl camry struggled with the extra weight and drag due to the large enclosed trailer that i was towing all of my junk in. had many stops along the way to fill up with petrol, rest, stretch and some nourishment of the food variety.
driving down into Adelaide is always an experience, and driving down is about the best way to describe it, a few lanes that wind down and down, until you reach the old toll house and the traffic lights that greet you as Adelaide. i had my directions from mum and dad on how to get to their place, although i could have written them down better and made it easier to read. i pulled up to a set of traffic lights not a km from my parents house and read turn right so i did, oops that was for the traffic lights before. having realised at that set of lights that i needed to go left i did a u turn shortly after going through the lights. as i came down the hill i had just come up and back to the lights, heading in the right direction this time, with the lights red i braked, but didn't stop, until i hit the in front of me, a new mini cooper s. with the extra weight and my brakes too hot and gooey to help, i was left helpless and only to watch. we got out she was pissed, i was devastated, i really didn't need this, and neither did she. thankfully the collision was only minor really and just scratched the paint on her car, and with just a bent bumper on mine we were both ok. and luckily she hasn't worried to get it fixed so i didn't have to pay, just for my car anyways.
