intelligent design vs evolution
i read this article in the paper the other day, is interesting, pretty much intelligent design vs evolution being taught in U.S. schools, being fought out in court.
debate over the issue has reached our shores in Australia, this article reflects some Australian's points of view.

Mmm, personally I think it's no biggie. I believe that we can belive in inteligent design and evolution at once, and that it doesn't really matter. (gasp) sorry fundamentals.
I also don't belive that the kingdom of God is advanced by laws and legislation.

yeah you can believe in whatever you want to believe really, in a way i think it is a bit of an old fight and mainly just like two stubborn people who both think they are right and the other person wrong.
and no it doesn't make much for advancing God's kingdom, has little to do with that.
more to do with what is taught in schools and whether we are helping people to think for themselves by giving multiple theories or just one.

One thing that annoys me is that they try to make it look like ID has nothing to do with Christianity.

well technically it doesn't necessarily cause it is just a creator, so it could be like some Greek god, or the god of Islam or just some god that you decided exists, or maybe just some being that isn't even a god and just a creator.
it is all still theoretical and doesn't claim to have all the answers, or be totally defined, like evolution.
i think Christians may like it more than evolution, because it seems to be more like what Genesis seems to say.
but really we don't know for sure exactly what happened, we can say what we believed happened, but really our puny heads can't work it out fully.
and to me that shows how much Greater God is for doing whatever he did to make us and this planet and this universe and this galaxy and all the other galaxies.

It may not be technically Christian, but it's quite obvious to anyone that Christians are trying to us it to force their beliefs on others.

I'm a little confused by the stats at the end of the article: If 65% favour teaching creationism with evolution, and 37% favour teaching creationism instead of evolution, that means 102% of Americans want creation taught in schools - who exactly is arguing??

LOL! I was a little confused by those figures as well! Thanks for the link John - used it in my Darwinism paper.
